Christmas Eve Program

I received the following email request from Weston. He is looking for feedback from the rest of you about what he has planned. I have added emphasis to parts of his email to get your attention. I also added my thoughts in red.

Mom asked me to direct a spiritual program Christmas Eve and I think that I have finally worked out the kinks and I have a rough draft put together.

I have assigned family members scripture and other readings, and we will be singing hymns as well. If you could post the following rough draft of the program on your blog so I can get feedback that would be great. If anyone wants to prepare a special musical number we can work that in as well. I volunteered Lyle to sing a duet with me, hopefully he'll do it, its nothing fancy, just out of the hymnbook, no parts, just melody.

Anyway, here goes:

Opening prayer: Emily
Matthew 1:18-23: Annie
Luke 2:1-7: Mom
Musical number (Picture a Christmas): Emily, Colton, Noah and Luke
Luke 2:8-14: Dave
Luke 2:15-20: Amber
Musical Number (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing): Weston and Lyle
Wise Men Reading: Melinda
Matthew 2:1-11: Nadine
Closing remarks: Dad
Closing Prayer: Grammy

I was hoping we could get Jonathan to videotape it for posterity, I figure if anyone had a cool video camera it would be you guys, and perhaps he would enjoy doing it? (Nadine and Dave have a nice video camera. We actually don't have one and just use our camera, so Nadine would you bring your video camera and have it charged up??)

Don't forget there are hymns (or musical numbers where specified) in between each reading. I figured I would lead the music.

After the program I figure that if anyone wanted to do anything else, ie sing other Christmas carols or songs could do so at that time, or if it works well with the program we could omit a hymn therein. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I thought I would throw it out there if anyone was interested.

Thanks, let me know if there is anything you think would work better or any other ideas.

Weston

After the program what if we told memorable Christmas stories?? Like when we had the house fire?

I am looking forward to this. Perhaps we could have the kids act this out? I also like Melinda's idea of sharing memorable Christmas stories.

Thanks, Nadine. Amber, do you mean act out the Christmas story? So, two votes for memorable Christmas stories?!

Yes. We usually let them dress up as Mary, Joseph and a sheperd or wise man...just to keep them from getting bored.
