Christmas Eve Program

I received the following email request from Weston. He is looking for feedback from the rest of you about what he has planned. I have added emphasis to parts of his email to get your attention. I also added my thoughts in red.

Mom asked me to direct a spiritual program Christmas Eve and I think that I have finally worked out the kinks and I have a rough draft put together.

I have assigned family members scripture and other readings, and we will be singing hymns as well. If you could post the following rough draft of the program on your blog so I can get feedback that would be great. If anyone wants to prepare a special musical number we can work that in as well. I volunteered Lyle to sing a duet with me, hopefully he'll do it, its nothing fancy, just out of the hymnbook, no parts, just melody.

Anyway, here goes:

Opening prayer: Emily
Matthew 1:18-23: Annie
Luke 2:1-7: Mom
Musical number (Picture a Christmas): Emily, Colton, Noah and Luke
Luke 2:8-14: Dave
Luke 2:15-20: Amber
Musical Number (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing): Weston and Lyle
Wise Men Reading: Melinda
Matthew 2:1-11: Nadine
Closing remarks: Dad
Closing Prayer: Grammy

I was hoping we could get Jonathan to videotape it for posterity, I figure if anyone had a cool video camera it would be you guys, and perhaps he would enjoy doing it? (Nadine and Dave have a nice video camera. We actually don't have one and just use our camera, so Nadine would you bring your video camera and have it charged up??)

Don't forget there are hymns (or musical numbers where specified) in between each reading. I figured I would lead the music.

After the program I figure that if anyone wanted to do anything else, ie sing other Christmas carols or songs could do so at that time, or if it works well with the program we could omit a hymn therein. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I thought I would throw it out there if anyone was interested.

Thanks, let me know if there is anything you think would work better or any other ideas.

Weston

After the program what if we told memorable Christmas stories?? Like when we had the house fire?

Monsters Continued

After my last post I made a couple more shirts. All the shirts are the same color of red, which is really nice! I was surprised about that (different brands).

The green monster is Sam's shirt, the blue monster is Noah's shirt and the pink is Emily's. I was hoping if I gave Noah a blue monster and made him look "cool" that he would like it. ;) Again, don't show the kids this or they'll know what I made them!

I decided to put a deadline on the monster shirts. If you want one you have to let me know by December 4th so I have enough time to order it and have it shipped in time.

Monster Shirts

For a Christmas present for the kids I am making them all monster shirts. If any of you adults would like a shirt you need to let me know right away so I can order more monster pieces. The kids shirts are red and have long sleeves. If you would like to have a monster shirt you will need to bring with you a white, black or true red cotton t-shirt with you to CA. I am making Jon and me monster shirts so I bought him a short sleeved black shirt and me a long sleeved black shirt (Walmart or Target are around $3-8 each). I will get the monster pieces for you and show you how to iron it on your shirt. Here is Emily's shirt, please don't show her! :) It is, after all, her Christmas present!!

Disclaimer: The lighting in my house makes the shirt appear orange, but all of the shirts are true red. I noticed the left wing didn't adhere completely so I fixed that after this picture. The body comes separate and then I chose the eyes, spots, etc.

Free Printable Disneyland Countdown

The Crafting Chicks put together a fun Disneyland Countdown to print.
--The Mickey circle you put on the countdown is saved in photoshop. I thought this was perfect because it's a 30 day countdown and I found it just in time for us to use it!
---I saved them in my Google docs as jpegs. This might be easier for you and you can look at them to see if you want to use them!

You could also make a paper chain of colorful paper links. That would be pretty fun too.
